James Burton of Hillsboro, manager of Respiratory Care at Clinton Memorial Hospital, was the second recipient of A Heart of Caring Award.
Burton was nominated by his peers for the award which was created by the customer service committee at CMH Regional Health System. His co-workers noted that Burton has excellent customer service skills and is dedicated to both his patients and his staff.
Since joining CMH in 2005 Burton has implemented important programs and process improvements that have direct impact on patients. Burton was instrumental in implementing the ventilator associated pneumonia prevention policy resulting in zero occurrences in 2007. Burton also led the effort to implement a Rapid Response Team to reduce adverse outcomes or deaths through early and effective interventions. He serves on numerous committees at CMH, is a member of the Southern State Community College advisory board for the respiratory care program and commits time outside of work to educate the public about the respiratory profession.
Other CMH employees nominated for the award were Susie Brooks, Charlene Buckley, Cathy Chowning, Jennifer Cline, Pam Daniel, Stacey Daniel, Rachel Duncan, Lisa Fawley, Cindy Gustin, Dan Hapner, Tamara Hopkins, Angel Hughes, Angie Hurley, Carolyn Koynock, Parriett Lundy, Dawn Lyon, Joanna Salsbury, Donna Snyder, Jeanette Soale, Lisa Stauffer, Julie Wickline, and Monica Wood.
All the nominees were introduced during CMH’s Annual Employee Services Awards Banquet in May where 120 employees who have achieved longevity milestones were recognized for a combined 1,200 years of service.
