Foster J. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center Benefits From Grand National Spring Championship Tractor Pull
The Foster J. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center was the true winner at the National Tractor Pullers Association’s (NTPA) Grand National Spring Championship, held recently at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. The event was jointly sponsored by the Clinton County Agricultural Society and the NTPA.
The NTPA and the Clinton County Agricultural Society presented Jim Chroust, president of the CMH Foundation, with a check for $5,600 to go towards the cancer center’s fund for patients who need special assistance. Click here for a larger version of the above image.
“We certainly appreciate the generosity of the NTPA and the agricultural society for donating a portion of the proceeds to the cancer center fund.” says Chroust. “The funds will help support the patients of the most comprehensive cancer center in the region.”
Local competitors finished strong both days. Mark Weiderhold, of Clarksville, placed second in the heavy super stock class. Tim Howell, also of Clarksville, placed third in the super stock alcohol class. John Evans, of Wilmington, placed second both days in the super stock alcohol tractors.
The NTPA Spring Championship pull was the first event on the Grand National four-month, cross country circuit. The 2007 circuit comes to a close on September 15 at the Enderle Invitational, End of Season Pull in Urbana.
The Grand National Circuit brings competitors from across the U.S. and Canada to Clinton County each year. In 2008 the event will be held at the Clinton County Fairgrounds on June 13 and 14.
